Here are a few reviews by me of films starring Samuel L. Jackson. I hope you will find them useful and not kill me if I say something about your favourite film that you disagree with (eeeek!)...

Shaft
Vanessa Williams co-stars with Samuel L. Jackson in this tribute to the 1970's classic film starring Richard Roundtree.
Jackson plays unorthodox Manhattan cop John Shaft, nephew of the original John Shaft of 1970's fame.
He delivers the part with the same charisma and style as fans have come to expect over the years and the part could not have been cast to a more worthy or able actor. However, the plot, which you get the distinct feeling has all been done before, does him no justice and leaves you with a craving for 70's waa waa and something a bit more substantial.

Directed by John Singleton.
Rules of Engagement
Tommy Lee Jones stars alongside Samuel L. Jackson in this thriller about a Marine Commander (Jackson) who is accused of war crimes.
He is helped by his lawyer friend (Jones) to prove his innocence in a courtroom battle that has you on the edge of your seat all the way.
The opening sequence is powerful and carries you through the rest of the film in an appreciative light... a talent for which the director is reknowned.

Directed by William Friedkin.

Jackie Brown
A particular favourite of mine. Jackson is one among a cast of many fantastic actors and actresses including Pam Grier, Robert De Niro, Michael Keaton and Bridget Fonda.
Jackie Brown (Grier) is a middle-aged air hostess who adds to her income by carrying large amounts of cash between Mexico and the USA for arms dealer, Ordell Robbie(Jackson). After being arrested at the airport she can only gain her freedom by informing the police about Ordell, but she knows that if she does he will kill her. So she devises a plan to get away with a large amount of the cash herself and avoid going to jail.
The dialogue between characters (and particularly the dialogue of Samuel L. Jackson's character) flows brilliantly and is often quite hilarious.
Quentin Tarantino shows off his flair for black culture and language and his lavish, amusing and original plot-lines in this film. Although it isn't the same style as he usually pleases his fans with (i.e Reservoir Dogs), it certainly is worth a look.

Directed by Quentin Tarantino.
The Long Kiss Goodnight
Geena Davis stars as schoolteacher Samantha Caine, who lost her memory eight years ago. She hires a detective (Jackson) to help her uncover the truth about her past, but what she finds out is neither expected nor welcomed.
Samuel L. Jackson plays the deadbeat detective pretty much struggling to make ends meet. He plays his part convincingly and manages to make the character cool even though it was written so as any other actor might not manage it.
Lots of suspense with several good one-liners e.g. "chefs do that"... you'll have to watch it to know what I mean!

Directed by Renny Harlin.
